This book was released on 2009-05-01 with total page 19 pages. Book excerpt: A study of Iraq¿s new political leaders and their visions for the future. This study finds a revolutionary change since the Ba¿th in the forces shaping the new leaders and their political orientation. A nationalist regime committed to a strong central gov¿t. has been replaced by political pluralism and disparate views, with no common vision on Iraq¿s direction forward. The political process has intensified polarization around ethnic and sectarian identity, which could lead to Iraq¿s fragmentation. The report suggests several ways to help Iraqis step back from this divide, including refocusing on economic development, particularly the need for new oil legislation, and slowing the political process to give leaders time to absorb change and refine the political system.

Book Chinese Politics in the Hu Jintao Era: New Leaders, New Challenges PDF. This book was released on 2016-07-01 with total page 376 pages. Book excerpt: Drawing on hundreds of interviews with top Chinese officials, parliamentarians, scholars, and businessmen, Willy Lam, a renowned journalist and writer on Chinese affairs, presents a first-hand, multi-dimensional account of twenty-first century China and the impact of fourth generation leaders, including President Hu Jinato and Premier Wen Jiabao. Lam goes behind the glitzy facade of nouveau-riche Beijing and Shanghai to examine how the Hu leadership has tried to extend the Communist Party's "mandate of heaven" by tackling an array of daunting problems: the weakening legitimacy of the Party's leadership; restive peasants; angry workers; political stagnation over the lack of reform; foreign relations difficulties; unreliable energy supplies; resurgent nationalism; and the increasingly dubious "Chinese model" of development. The author assesses possible contributions that the new classes of private businessmen, professionals, and intellectuals - as well as new ideas such as nationalism, globalization, and federalism - will make to economic prosperity and political liberalization. The book also includes a chapter on foreign policy, which contains an insightful account of Beijing's evolving and sometimes difficult relations with the United States, Europe, Japan, and other major countries and blocs, as well as the role of the People's Liberation Army.

Book excerpt: Master's Thesis from the year 2012 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 1,7, Heilbronn University, language: English, abstract: Women are still significantly underrepresented in Top Management positions and leadership is still associated with the male gender as leadership theories traditionally focus on men. This is especially evident in China which has one of the world’s highest female labor participation but a female share of only eight percent on the corporate boards. Although Chinese women’s tertiary educational attainment is now equal to the tertiary education of Chinese men they still face many barriers on their way to the top. The strong influence of Confucian values perceiving women as inferior to men remains noticeable until today and women find themselves exposed to a strongly patriarchal business environment. As being traditionally the main care-givers of their families they are deemed to be expensive potential mothers and thus gender- preference can be observed. second Classical leadership theories of the Western culture as well as of the Chinese culture are introduced to provide a common understanding of their approaches. Further the situation of women in the past and of today is being compared as well as their leadership styles, access to managerial leadership positions and the barriers they face. Since educational attainment of both genders does not explain why women are rarely found on the upper managerial ranks, other reasons that could be a barrier for women’s career advancement are examined in this research.
